You want to be careful with text and logo's on big clothes.
Out of context Text and logo's are identifying marks and people generally will take notice of them. And when they take notice the text and or logo's will be related to you.
When the text used is out of context with your physique. Lets say you are that nice chubby 350 pounder wearing a sweater saying "snowboard champion". When clearly used in a self mocking fashon, there is no problem, yet remember, people will read and relate what you wear to you.
Text and icon placingIf you have found yourself a nice sweaters with text that says nothing or is neutral. than text placing and size needs to be considered.
Unless you are very thin you do not want text or icons or images to be placed over "bulging areas". This only adds to the bulkiness and unnecessary expands on your "image". Text on left chest side (above heart) is acceptable, Try to avoid flashy colors.
Text and icon sizeForget about big scaled images and text, in general they do not suit your figure. As an exemption images or text on the back of a T-shirt, can be made bigger. Do not overdo it though, try not to send unwanted messages.
