Big and tall coats
Big and tall coats were needed in the winter of 2010 when this was written. I don't recall having seen that much snow, rain and other misery.
Technological improvements have reduced the overall thickness of clothing. Early improvements had some sweating problems, usually caused by the overly use of nylon.
Nowadays the ventilation and evaporation of sweat is just as good as in the thick "old style leather or fabric" coats, a feat appreciated by us big and tall lads.
Parka's and other "nautical" type coats have a waistband or a waist-liner sewed into them. This does limit the flexibility of the waist size.
If you choose a parka and you are size 2xl and fairly close to 3xl, Get the 3XL. In that case you can wear a sweater underneath it. Whenever you can, try to avoid the Nylon jackets. Your better of with jackets witch incorporate newer technology. These big jackets will keep you warm without "inflating" you.
