Use either swim shorts for swimming or regular shorts for the warm days.

Regarding the swim shorts: just make sure the legs of the shorts are long enough and you use a sturdy cord.
When I see those boxers with flimsy strings in them. I change out the string for a stronger type of cord, just cello tape the new cord to the old one and carefully pull it true the shorts.

Big men in khaki shorts is one of them. You could try the green khaki shorts, moss colored is also better to reduce the profile. There is a simple reason for that; when you choose "background" colours your belly will be the foreground. A set of darker pants with dark brown to sand colored shirt shows you're paying attention.
Big men can also choose brighter colors in summer apparel, solid blue with a few white stripes are good. Choose a bit wilder pattern. It looks far more sporty and "happy" than the grey apparel.

Here you go, the standard shorts, seen all over the world. Nothing fancy, just proven reliability.
This short has got an extra 4 inch elasticity in the waist for added comfort. You would want to wear it with belt though. A simple brown belt will do.
These shorts are plain front, which is excellent for bigger men. As normal and regular as it can get.
Loose fit fishing shorts

This one is more for taller people, Big can try if there is a good size for them, the waist is elastic and its a loose fit.
The legs are longer than average in these shorts. Even though the ventilation stays good. These type of shorts are also water repellent and do not get dirty easily when doing garden work.
Very decent activity wear.
Cargo shorts, cotton, elastic the length you want

Take the grey or darker cargo shorts. They are super for big and tall. With good elasticity in the waist and a belt.
A few pockets is ok. You don't want too much fanciness sewn in your pants though, that just "increases the size."

Marine cargo shorts.

The marine version of the cargo short is a touch longer than the regular one. Its a bit more "dressed". As the features, like pockets, are a bit more spread out it has good "slimming" qualities.
Again the standard color seen is khaki, but try to be a bit more inventive with a steel or moss kind of look
The waistband is elastic, do wear a belt on it though. Great golf shorts or just free-time wear.
Swim trunks
size: roomy
Set of no hassle roomy swim trunks.
Not a lot of stories here, but if you don't fit these swim trunks, you should dedicate a short for this purpose.
This one has inner lining as regular as it gets. But for the single purpose of splashing around in a pond its ok.
