Learning what to wear to work is easy if you know the right source of information. Casual styles for big and tall people are appropriate in some areas and not in others.
What clothing to Wear to Work? Are Casual Styles for Big and Tall Clothing good enough?
The two questions described above are perhaps the two most important for you to answer before you dress for work. You need to know what to wear to work and you need to know if casual styles for big and tall clothing are correct in your specific case.
Learning appropriate work attire is easy when you contrast positions like a bank teller and an informal telemarketer. In the former case, obviously formal wear is required. In the latter, most places don't really care what you wear.
However, those settings are the obvious answers. What if you work a desk job with a company where you might interact with other people, but it is not necessarily given that you'll met customers, clients or anyone else outside? What then do you do in order to make sure that you are correctly dressed for your job?
The answer, even though it may frustrate you, is that it depends. Learning about different clothing styles for plus sized attire is more of an art than it is a science and as you get more experienced with dressing properly for a workplace environment you will start to understand what works and what doesn't. Until that point however, you need to stick with some basic ground rules that will steer you right most of the time.
A good example of such a ground rule is to make sure that you look good outwardly.
A t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops may feel good, but that doesn't mean that they look good. Similarly, a dress-shirt and a sweater vest may be a little less comfortable than the first outfit choice, but they will look a lot better for you to wear in your workplace environment. Smart casual was created as a separate clothing category for a reason and that reason is that most of the time you don't have to dress formally but you do need to give an indication that you put some thought and work into your outward appearance. Smart casual clothing will definitely allow you to get that done.
While all of these tips are interesting and useful, the original question remains. How do you know what to wear to work? The simple answer to that question for beginners is that you should try to experiment in order to see what works best. Mix things up and follow the tips above until you are able to adopt a style that works for you and works for the people at your place of work.
If the whole idea of finding proper work attire scares you and really makes you nervous, there is one sure fire way for you to find out what clothing styles work at work. Just ask your boss and follow their advice on what the best clothing to wear actually is.
